Moon Township and Moon Area: check which search you are using

Moon Township is a municipality. Moon Area School District’s registration guidance names both Moon Township and Crescent Township. A district-wide home search can therefore include properties outside Moon Township. The Redfin link below covers the school district; it is not a township-only search.

We recommend recording the full address, municipality and district separately for each home. If a listing says “Moon Area,” ask which municipality the property is in before using that label to compare taxes, services or location. Confirm the exact address and school assignment with the district rather than relying on a mailing address or the closest school building.

Choose the right registration route before you start

Moon Area’s official registration page provides separate routes for kindergarten and grades 1–12 for the 2026–2027 school year. It directs enrollment questions to its registrar. Start there to confirm the correct application and the documents appropriate to your circumstances.

For a move during the school year, ask how your expected possession date fits the registration process. Keep the district’s answer separate from the purchase closing schedule. A proposed closing date does not establish a student’s start date.

• Exact address and confirmed municipality.
• Which search you used: Moon Township or the broader Moon Area district.
• District contact, school-assignment question and date of the response.
• Registration items still needed and the person responsible for the next step.
• Your own route, condition and ownership-cost questions for the property.

Moon offers brick ranches, split-entry homes, traditional two-stories, townhomes, patio homes and newer subdivisions. Housing age and condition vary widely, and airport-area location does not make every street or flight-path experience the same.

Location and daily access

The township provides access toward Pittsburgh International Airport, I-376 and employment centers west of the city. Downtown travel, traffic and aircraft noise should be evaluated from the actual property at relevant times.

Ownership considerations

Review sewer scope where appropriate, drainage, retaining conditions, radon testing, HOA documents and the age of major mechanical systems. Confirm taxes and municipal services for the exact parcel.

What buyers should compare

Visit more than once and test both the Downtown and airport route if they matter to your routine. Verify school assignment and compare the home’s updates, garage, lot and recurring costs with close competitors.

What sellers should consider

Marketing should identify the property’s practical access and specific improvements without treating all of Moon as one market. Nearby sales with similar age, style and subdivision context are usually more useful than a broad ZIP average.
